Saving the Grey team over $10K in future annual 3D costs.

Grey Finance reached out to me to work with the team on their 3D design system and help the team migrate to Blender (opensource 3D program). My deliverable included preparing a system that helps the team easily use 3D asset with little or no experience with Blender. This would also involve organizing workshops to help the team learn Blender use. While concessions had to be made, I ensured project fidelity was still maintained. First, I had to review the current (old) system in relation to existing brand & product design patterns. The results of my analysis were published in a Notion document available to team members. This document would go on to be the containing document for the system. My analysis appreciated the offerings of the current design system while I documented changes based on what the team’s new needs are. All of these were documented.

In the course of 3-5 months, the 3D system, the team migration and several workshops were delivered. Blender is open source, which means Grey gets to save no less than $10K if its design team was to rely on Cinema 4D and additional renderers. This is also not to speak of the 3D work done during the course of this engagement. You can see from this screenshot the extent of work done, recorded in my personal KPI tracker. To protect the team’s intellectual property, this work will not be shared here. However, I will take on emailed specific questions about this project.
